I have been keeping a close eye on the local events calendar this month, and there is one particular evening at Lourensford Wine Estate that looks like a real treat for those of us who appreciate a bit of mid-century class. The Kruger and Tutu Ensemble are bringing their Sinatra in the Cellar tribute to Somerset West on Saturday, 27 June 2026, and it sounds like the perfect excuse to dress up and head into the historic heart of the estate.
While I have not had a chance to visit the cellar for a performance just yet, the organisers have released some very practical details that suggest this will be a refined, intimate affair. According to the event listing, this is an unplugged tribute to Frank Sinatra, featuring acoustic arrangements with saxophone, piano, and guitars. For those unfamiliar with the performers, Kruger and Tutu (often stylized as KT) are a South African duo who actually started out as parkour coaches before turning their focus to a blend of French, English, and Afrikaans poetic storytelling.
The announcement notes that doors to the cellar will open at 17:30, with the performance scheduled to start at 18:45. Since seating is unreserved and handled on a first-come, first-served basis, I would definitely suggest getting there early if you are heading through with a group.
The venue itself is a working wine cellar, which adds a lot of atmosphere but comes with some specific conditions. The literature mentions that the historic layout means there is unfortunately no wheelchair access for this particular event. Also, it is worth noting that cellars are kept naturally chilled for the wine, so the advice from the team is to layer up and dress warmly, even if you are channelling your best Ol’ Blue Eyes glam.
