Somerset Mall was severely affected by the storm that hit parts of the Western Cape on the weekend of 7 April 2024.
The severe winds took part of the building’s roof – with several of the mall’s entrances seemingly being rendered unusable.
Although mall authorities have made efforts to expedite the mall’s recovery and reopen it to customers, a quick drive around the mall still reveals debris and fallen trees, almost a month later!
These pictures were taken today just outside Somerset Mall, along Reese Road (near the Mr Price Home entrance) and Centenary Drive (near McDonald’s).
