A stop on Old Stellenbosch Road in Somerset West rewarded us with stunning ocean views, blue skies and one of the area’s most scenic outlooks.
Sometimes the most beautiful moments happen when you’re simply ticking something off your to-do list. While heading to the pharmacy at SPAR Cylnor, next to KwikSPAR De Helderbosch, we couldn’t resist pulling over for a few minutes to take in the view from Old Stellenbosch Road.
The weather was absolutely perfect. The sky was a deep, uninterrupted blue, and the ocean was so calm that it almost looked as though the sea and the sky had merged into one endless horizon.
It’s one of the things I love most about everyday life in Somerset West. You don’t have to travel far or plan a special outing to discover beautiful scenery. Sometimes a quick stop between errands is all it takes to appreciate just how lucky we are to live here.
This stretch of Old Stellenbosch Road has quietly become one of my favourite photography spots. On a sunny day in Somerset West, it’s hard to drive past without stopping to admire the view for a few minutes.
It’s little moments like these that make local walks in the Helderberg and everyday neighbourhood drives feel anything but ordinary.
