Faithful Coffee is opening its first permanent coffee counter at Evolution Fitness Gym in Gordon’s Bay Village Plaza, bringing its signature espresso drinks and refreshed brand to the Helderberg.
For the past few days, Faithful Coffee has had locals guessing. Their social media has been filled with teasers about “a fresh new look”, “a brand-new chapter”, and “a new place to call home”. Now the secret is out.
The local coffee business has announced that it will officially open its first permanent coffee counter at Evolution Fitness Gym in Village Plaza, Gordon’s Bay, on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
For a business that began from a small coffee trailer on Beach Road in Strand, it marks an important milestone and the beginning of a new chapter.
From Beach Road to a permanent home
Faithful Coffee first opened in 2023, serving coffee from its distinctive trailer along Beach Road in Strand. While the seaside location helped the business build a loyal customer base, operating beside the ocean came with one unavoidable challenge.
As anyone living in the Helderberg knows, the wind has a habit of making its own plans. The strong coastal gusts meant there were days when the trailer simply couldn’t operate. Although opening a permanent shop had always been part of the long-term vision, the team felt Strand already had plenty of established coffee shops, making expansion there less practical.
Instead, Faithful Coffee focused on markets, events and private functions before recently introducing an early-morning call-and-collect service in their neighbourhood. That initiative eventually led to an opportunity at Village Plaza, where Evolution Fitness Gym is located.
“One thing led to another,” the owner, Jaco Binneman explained, and the partnership quickly came together.
What you’ll find on the menu
When the doors open, customers can expect the same range of drinks that Faithful Coffee has become known for. The menu will include espresso favourites such as cappuccinos, americanos, flat whites, cortados and mochas, alongside hot chocolate and chai lattes.
The team also plans to expand the offering over time, with smoothies expected to be added once they have a better understanding of what customers are looking for at the new location.
A familiar logo with a fresh look
The move also introduces a refreshed brand identity. Rather than replacing the logo, Faithful Coffee chose to evolve it.
The coffee trailer has always been at the heart of the brand, and that hasn’t changed. The updated design features cleaner lines, a lighter background and a more refined layout while keeping the trailer front and centre. It also retains the business’s familiar tagline: “Life’s too short for bad coffee.”
Looking at the old and new logos side by side, it feels less like a rebrand and more like the business has grown into itself without forgetting where it started.
Looking ahead
While the Gordon’s Bay coffee counter is the immediate focus, Binneman says he would like to open additional counters across the Helderberg if the right opportunities arise.
For now, though, all eyes are on Tuesday, 11 August, when Faithful Coffee officially begins serving from its new home inside Evolution Fitness at Village Plaza.
It is a significant step for a local business that has steadily built its reputation one cup at a time, and it will be interesting to see where this next chapter leads.
