Lourensford Market will reopen on 4 September 2026. The market has confirmed the reopening date, Bok van Blerk as the opening performer, themed events, market improvements and opportunities for local businesses.
If you’ve been wondering when the Lourensford Market will return after its winter break, there’s finally an official date to put in the diary.
Following the market’s recent announcement that it would be back this spring, I contacted Lourensford Market to learn more about what visitors can expect this season. Sven Aab, Lourensford Market Vendor Manager, confirmed the reopening date and shared further details about new events, planned improvements and opportunities for local businesses.
The Lourensford Market will officially reopen on Friday, 4 September 2026, with Bok van Blerk performing at the season’s opening First Friday event.
A season of themed events
While the reopening marks the return of one of the Helderberg’s favourite weekend destinations, visitors can also look forward to a full calendar of themed events over the coming months. Lourensford Market has already confirmed:
- 4 September: Opening Market featuring Bok van Blerk
- 5–6 September: Spring Has Sprung Weekend
- 25–27 September: Heritage Weekend
- 30 October: Halloween Evening
- 16 December: Extended Market Day
The market also confirmed that additional themed events and entertainment will be announced as the season unfolds.
Improvements behind the scenes
The new season will also bring several improvements to the market itself. According to Lourensford Market, furniture and stalls are being refreshed ahead of reopening, while branding and signage throughout the venue are being updated to create a more consistent look and feel.
The market also revealed that further physical improvements are planned for around December 2026, although those details are being kept under wraps for now.
Visitors can also expect to see some new vendors when the market returns, with even more traders expected to join later in the season from December.
Opportunities for local businesses
There is still an opportunity for local businesses to become part of the market. Lourensford Market confirmed that space remains available for pop-up vendors, while businesses and corporate partners interested in collaborations or event sponsorships are also encouraged to get involved.
Looking ahead
While the familiar atmosphere that has made the Lourensford Market so popular will remain, it’s clear the winter break has also been an opportunity to prepare for another busy season.
Alongside refreshed infrastructure, visitors can expect new vendors, an expanded programme of themed events and further enhancements planned later in the year.
With the reopening now confirmed for Friday, 4 September 2026, the countdown to another Lourensford Market season can officially begin.
