If you are looking for your usual FNB branch at the mall, you will find their new home just across the way at the Somerset Value Centre.

If you were planning to pop into the FNB branch at Somerset Mall today, you might want to adjust your GPS. I found out first-hand this morning that the branch has officially moved, and I definitely wasn’t the only one standing there looking a bit puzzled at the closed doors.

A small crowd had gathered around the notice posted on the window, and the general consensus was that the official announcement was pretty confusing. Thankfully, the community spirit is alive and well—a kind-hearted person actually took the time to scribble much clearer directions directly onto the sign to help the rest of us out.

Where to find the new branch

The good news is that the new spot isn’t far at all. FNB has relocated to the Somerset Value Mart, which is just a short hop across from the mall. If you head over that way, look for the McDonald’s; the new branch is right across from it, tucked between Gelmar and West Pack Lifestyle. It is technically Shop 29 on Jigger Avenue if you are putting it into your phone.

Is it ready for business

The notice says the new branch is scheduled to open tomorrow, June 6, 2024. However, after taking a peek through the windows today, it looks like the team has a long night ahead of them. The floor was still covered in building materials, and workers were buzzing around everywhere.

I even spotted an unattended drill sitting just a few feet away from the ATMs, which suggests they are still very much in the thick of the setup phase. While the official date is set for tomorrow, you might want to give it a little extra time or call ahead to (087) 575-9404 to make sure the systems are up and running before you make the trip.

Moving day is always a bit chaotic, but hopefully, the new location at the Value Mart will be more convenient for everyone once the dust settles. Safe travels on your banking run!
