Winter rain in Somerset West
Adjusting from Joburg’s summer rain to Western Cape’s winter rain.
Adjusting from Joburg’s summer rain to Western Cape’s winter rain.
Having lived in Joburg, we are accustomed to rain in the summer months. Adjusting to the Western Cape, where rain traditionally falls in the winter, is a change.
It’s not just the rain; it’s typically all four seasons in a day, characterized by near-pitch darkness at 7 am.
Despite all this, it is quite pleasant. It’s a delight for both professional and amateur photographers like us because it captures the entire spectrum of seasons, all in one day.
We managed to capture today quite a lot of the rainy part of the day at various streets around Somerset West.

I’m a wife, mother and local publisher who traded Johannesburg and two years abroad for life in Somerset West. Through HelderbergStuff, I share lifestyle stories, local discoveries and noteworthy developments across Somerset West, Strand and Gordon’s Bay.
