A quick stop on Schoongezicht Street in Somerset West rewarded us with stunning Helderberg mountain views, blooming jacarandas and beautiful blue skies.
Sometimes the best views in Somerset West appear when you least expect them. While driving through Schoongezicht Street, we couldn’t resist pulling over near the Dutch Reformed Church Helderberg to soak in the view stretching out before us.
The Helderberg mountain view was simply breathtaking. Against a brilliant blue sky, the mountains looked especially striking, while the blooming jacaranda trees in Somerset West added splashes of vibrant purple that made the whole scene feel almost picture-perfect.
It’s moments like these that remind me why I love walks in Somerset West and exploring its quieter neighbourhoods. You don’t always need to head to a popular attraction to find some of the best views. Sometimes, all it takes is slowing down for a few minutes and appreciating what’s right in front of you.
Will I ever get tired of these mountain views?
I honestly don’t think so. Every sunny day seems to paint the Helderberg a little differently, and that’s part of the magic of living here. Whether you’re looking for scenic walks in Somerset West, local photography spots or simply a peaceful moment outdoors, it’s hard to beat an afternoon like this.
