A surprise rainbow followed us from Monte Sereno all the way to Somerset Mall on 23 July 2026, gracefully arching over the ocean as we captured its magic along Helderberg College Road and Broadway Boulevard.
There’s nothing quite like a surprise rainbow on a grey winter Thursday to lift the spirits in the Helderberg.
Today, while heading out from Monte Sereno toward Somerset Mall for a quick grocery run and a nosy look at the new tenants, we were treated to one of those special Cape skies. The rainbow started following us early on and stayed with us almost the entire way, arching beautifully over the ocean.
I managed to pull over and snap a few photos from Helderberg College Road and Broadway Boulevard. In both spots, the rainbow formed a gentle, glowing bridge across the water – soft colours against the moody winter backdrop. By the time we reached the mall’s Entrance 4 parking, it was already quietly fading away. No final shot, but the memory was more than enough.
As I always say, this is what I love most about living here. Even on a rainy winter day, the sky and the views find a way to shift your perspective. One moment you’re running errands, the next you’re smiling at a rainbow that decided to tag along for the ride.
Grateful for these simple, beautiful reminders that there’s always something worth appreciating in the Helderberg.
