Coffee Connect Strand Announces New Owners as Popular Beach Road Café Changes Hands

Coffee Connect in Strand has announced a change in ownership, with new owners taking over from 1 August while the popular Beach Road coffee shop continues trading.

Today is a bittersweet day for Tiaan and Anneline Prins, the current owners of Coffee Connect at Shop 3, 106 Beach Road in Strand. Since taking over the café in late 2025, they have helped establish it as a popular local spot known for its coffee, light meals and welcoming atmosphere, where locals could settle in for a coffee, meet up for a meal or even bring along their four-legged companions. Tomorrow they will officially hand the business over to its new owners, with the new team taking over day-to-day operations from Saturday, 1 August 2026.

In a heartfelt message shared with customers, Tiaan and Anneline reassured everyone that Coffee Connect wasn’t going anywhere. The café will continue trading under the same name, with the new owners promising fresh energy, new ideas and, as they put it, “wonderful things on the horizon.” They encouraged regulars to continue supporting the business and to watch this space for what’s next.

For the couple, Coffee Connect became far more than a business. They described it as a place where friendships were built, prayers were shared, celebrations took place and lives were touched. Whether someone stopped in for a cup of coffee, a meal or simply a friendly chat, every customer became part of their story. Those memories, they said, will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Looking ahead, the family says they are stepping into a new season with faith and expectation, trusting that this new chapter is part of God’s plan. They closed their farewell with the verse that has clearly guided them throughout the journey: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans” (Proverbs 16:3).

How Coffee Connect came to Strand

For many Strand residents, this marks the second change of ownership for the Beach Road café in less than a year. The current chapter began in November 2025, when Tiaan and Anneline took over the business and introduced themselves to the community as the new owners of what was now Coffee Connect.

Originally from Upington, they had relocated to Strand about nine months earlier. On 5 December 2025, they shared how grateful and excited they were for the opportunity, saying they looked forward to serving the community and creating something different at the café. Their doors opened that very day, and they invited locals to stop in over the weekend.

In the months that followed, Coffee Connect settled into its role as a neighbourhood spot for coffee, meals and conversation, continuing the welcoming atmosphere that regulars had come to expect from the Beach Road location.

Before Coffee Connect

Before Tiaan and Anneline took over, the same premises were home to Vaalkuif Koffie Co., run by Belinda and Kokkie.

After years of serving the local community, the couple announced that they had decided to retire and spend more time with their children and grandchildren. In a heartfelt farewell, they thanked customers for the friendly chats, the familiar faces, the laughter and the community that had become like family.

They said the support they had received over the years meant the world to them and that they were comforted knowing the coffee shop was in good hands as it entered its next chapter under new ownership. Before signing off with love and gratitude, they encouraged locals to continue showing the incoming owners the same warmth and support they had always received.

The next chapter begins

Although the faces behind the counter will soon change once again, Coffee Connect itself isn’t going anywhere. The café will continue operating from its familiar Beach Road premises under the same name, giving regular customers the reassurance that one of Strand’s favourite coffee stops will remain part of the local community.

As the new owners prepare to take over from 1 August 2026, locals can expect the familiar atmosphere they’ve come to know, alongside fresh ideas and a new vision for the café’s future. If the messages from both the outgoing and previous owners are anything to go by, the hope is that Coffee Connect will continue to be a place where people gather, connect and feel at home for many years to come.

I’ll be watching for updates once the new owners introduce themselves and will share any further news as it comes.
