For many art lovers in the Helderberg, Gallery 91 has long been a familiar destination for fine art, custom framing, ceramics, gifts and its welcoming café and garden setting. That chapter has now come to an end.
Gallery 91 officially closed its doors on 30 June 2023, announcing the news in a heartfelt message to customers after many years of serving the Somerset West community from 91 Andries Pretorius Street.
A Heartfelt Farewell
In its farewell announcement, the Gallery 91 team thanked customers for their support and loyalty throughout the years.
“We want to express our gratitude for your support and loyalty throughout the years. We couldn’t have come this far without you.”
The team also expressed hope that they would remain in touch through their website for future updates and possible clearance sales. The message was signed by Terry, Marina, Dianne and the rest of the Gallery 91 team, thanking customers for being part of the gallery’s journey.
Auction of Gallery Contents
Following the closure, the contents of Gallery 91 were scheduled to be auctioned on-site. The public auction, held on 11 October 2023, included furniture, collectibles, artworks, ceramics, gift items, restaurant equipment, framing stock, sculptures, paintings, sketches, photographs and a variety of framed and unframed artwork that had formed part of the gallery over the years.
The End of a Local Landmark
