Kelfords Motors Somerset West has confirmed a major expansion that will increase servicing capacity, add more parking, create additional employment opportunities and introduce a new ARCFOX showroom ahead of the arrival of the ARCFOX T1.
If you’ve driven past Kelfords Motors on the corner of Victoria Street and Andries Pretorius Street recently, you may have noticed the “ARCFOX Coming Soon” signage outside the dealership and wondered what was on the way.
I reached out to Kelfords Somerset West to find out more about the changes taking place behind the scenes. Managing Director Tristan Kelly confirmed that, although much of the work is not yet visible from the street, the dealership is currently undergoing a significant expansion that will increase capacity, introduce a new vehicle brand and create additional employment opportunities.
More Capacity, Shorter Servicing Lead Times
According to Kelfords Somerset West, the expansion is designed to support the dealership’s continued growth over the next five to ten years.
One of the key improvements is an increase in parking capacity to accommodate both the growing business and the addition of new vehicle brands. Once complete, the upgraded facilities will also allow the dealership to service more vehicles, increasing throughput and helping to reduce servicing lead times for customers.
Kelly also confirmed that the expansion will create additional employment opportunities beyond the technician roles the dealership has recently advertised.
Despite the construction work, customers can continue visiting the dealership as normal. Careful planning and logistics have allowed the business to remain fully operational throughout the renovation period.
ARCFOX Electric Vehicles Coming to Somerset West
The prominent billboard outside the dealership signals the arrival of ARCFOX, the electric vehicle brand from the BAIC stable, which will soon join Kelfords’ offering.
Kelly confirmed that the dealership is extending its BAIC showroom to accommodate the new ARCFOX showroom ahead of the launch of the ARCFOX T1, which is expected to take place in September 2026.
Both the dealership expansion and the showroom extension are expected to be completed during September 2026.
It’s always encouraging to see established local businesses continuing to invest in Somerset West. While most people driving past will only notice the ARCFOX billboard for now, there’s a much larger project taking shape behind the scenes that is expected to improve customer capacity, support future growth and bring another automotive brand to the Helderberg.
