The new Hyundai Creta is coming to Somerset West, with the 1.5 Premium IVT priced at R449,900 and the sporty 1.5T N-Line DCT at R569,900.
The new Hyundai Creta came onto my radar after I noticed the “Coming Soon” listing on the Hyundai Somerset West website, along with the dealership displaying vehicles at Somerset Mall.
On the official Hyundai website the car is under a blue veil, with a Spring 2026 countdown that currently points to 1 September 2026. With the launch approaching, I contacted Hyundai Somerset West to find out what local motorists can expect from the new SUV.
The response confirmed that the new Creta is about to arrive, although Hyundai is still keeping some of the finer local specifications under wraps until the official launch.
What is already clear, however, is that this is more than a routine update to an existing model.
A significant update to a familiar SUV
The Creta has been a strong seller in South Africa and an established name in the family SUV market. The new model represents a substantial change to the range, most notably with the introduction of a sporty N-Line variant.
Hyundai says the new Creta brings a more contemporary design, including a parametric radiator grille and new LED lighting signatures.
There are also changes beneath the exterior. The 1.5 Premium will introduce an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), while the N-Line will be powered by a 1.5T Turbo Smartstream engine paired with a seven-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT).
The N-Line is also intended to broaden the appeal of the Creta beyond its traditional family-SUV audience.
Hyundai says the model continues to target families looking for safety, space and reliability, but the new N-Line is also aimed at younger, trend-conscious and performance-driven buyers looking for a sportier SUV.
What will it cost?
Hyundai Somerset West has also provided the launch pricing for the two models currently announced:
- Hyundai Creta 1.5 Premium IVT: R449,900
- Hyundai Creta 1.5T N-Line DCT: R569,900
*The prices are subject to change.
Hyundai says the new Creta will compete in the crowded compact SUV market through a combination of standard features, ride quality and pricing.
Helderberg interest is already there
The local dealership says motorists have already been paying attention.
According to Hyundai Somerset West, the teaser on its website has generated a strong response, with walk-ins and phone calls from Somerset West residents asking when the first vehicles will arrive at the dealership.
That interest has also been visible beyond the dealership itself, with Hyundai Somerset West recently displaying vehicles at Somerset Mall.
For the dealership, that community presence is deliberate.
Rather than relying solely on people walking into the showroom, Hyundai Somerset West says displaying vehicles at the mall allows its team to meet customers where they already spend time, while creating an opportunity for more informal conversations about the vehicles.
What might surprise first-time Hyundai buyers?
For motorists who have never owned a Hyundai before, the dealership believes the new Creta’s build quality, quiet cabin and driving experience will be among the things that stand out.
The dealership also points to Hyundai’s broader value proposition, saying that the brand often includes features that buyers might otherwise associate with considerably more expensive vehicles.
There is still more to come.
Hyundai has indicated that the full local specifications, official media kit, high-resolution images and detailed feature information will be released closer to the official launch.
For now, though, the new Creta is no longer simply a “Coming Soon” listing for local motorists. With pricing confirmed and interest already building at Hyundai Somerset West, the first units are on their way.
