Romens Clothing Company Opens First Helderberg Store at Somerset Mall

Romens has opened its first Helderberg store at Somerset Mall, bringing its long-established range of men’s clothing, footwear and accessories to Somerset West.

Men shopping for formalwear, business attire and smart casual clothing now have another option in the Helderberg. Romens Clothing Company has officially opened its new store at Somerset Mall, marking the retailer’s first branch in the region.

The new store opened in May 2024, following weeks of preparation after Romens announced in April that it would soon be bringing the brand to Somerset West. Somerset Mall later confirmed that the store had opened near Entrance 2, welcoming shoppers to browse its range of premium menswear and accessories.

A Long-Established Cape Town Brand

Founded in 1961, Romens has been part of Cape Town’s retail landscape for more than six decades. Before expanding into Somerset West, the retailer operated stores at Canal Walk Shopping Centre and Tyger Valley Centre, building a reputation for quality men’s fashion at affordable prices.

The Somerset Mall branch represents the company’s first move into the Helderberg, giving local shoppers access to the brand without having to travel into Cape Town.

Visitors will find a wide selection of men’s clothing, footwear and accessories, including suits, sport jackets, casual jackets, shirts, trousers, jerseys, leather jackets, shoes, belts, ties, cufflinks and underwear. The store also stocks a variety of well-known brands such as Carducci, House of Monatic, Jeep, Pierre Cardin, Polo, Pringle, Barker and Crockett & Jones, among others.

According to the company, its sales consultants are trained menswear outfitters who assist customers with styling, fit and colour coordination, whether they’re shopping for everyday wear, business attire or special occasions.

A New Chapter in Somerset West

After more than 60 years of trading, it’s interesting to see Romens choosing Somerset West for its next chapter. It says a great deal about how the Helderberg continues to attract long-established brands, not just new ones, with established retailers increasingly recognising the area’s growing retail market and expanding their footprint beyond central Cape Town.
