Somerset Mall Storm Damage Still Untouched Almost a Month Later

Somerset Mall was severely damaged by the April 2024 storm with part of the roof torn off. Debris and fallen trees remain untouched nearly a month later along Reese Road and Centenary Drive.

Somerset Mall in Somerset West was severely affected by the storm that swept across parts of the Western Cape over the weekend of 7 April 2024, with significant roof damage caused by the strong winds.

The severe winds tore away sections of the Somerset Mall roof, with several of the mall’s entrances left inaccessible following the storm.

Although mall authorities have made efforts to reopen the shopping centre and restore normal trading, storm damage at Somerset Mall remains visible. A quick drive around the property still reveals debris, damaged structures and fallen trees, almost a month after the storm.
