The Golfers Club has officially opened its first Helderberg store at The Meltz Centre in Somerset West, bringing specialist golf equipment, apparel and custom club fitting closer to local golfers.
Golfers across the Helderberg now have a specialist golf retailer closer to home. The Golfers Club has officially opened its new Somerset West branch at The Meltz Centre, 10 Urtel Crescent, Somerset Triangle, marking the company’s first store in the Helderberg.
The new store welcomed its first customers on 17 March 2026, following months of planning and preparation. Sharing the news on social media, the company said it was delighted to finally open its doors and introduce the new store to the local golfing community.
A Long-Awaited Arrival
The opening had been several years in the making. In the days leading up to the launch, The Golfers Club described the project as the result of “years in the making, months of planning, weeks of building and countless days and nights of packing,” as excitement built towards opening day.
Earlier in January, the company had already begun recruiting staff for the Somerset West branch, seeking full-time senior sales consultants “with an official golf handicap“. Successful applicants were also offered training at the company’s Canal Walk branch ahead of the store opening.
Bringing Specialist Golf Retail to the Helderberg
With several well-known golf courses spread across Somerset West, Strand and the surrounding Winelands, the Helderberg has long been home to a strong golfing community. Until now, however, golfers wanting to visit The Golfers Club had to travel to one of the retailer’s existing branches in Cape Town or George, with the rest of its national network located in Fourways, Centurion, West Rand, Edenvale and Durban.
The new Somerset West branch changes that, giving local golfers access to the brand’s specialist products and services without leaving the Helderberg.
Along with a wide selection of golf clubs, apparel, shoes and accessories, the Somerset West branch also features dedicated fitting bays powered by ProTee Simulator technology. The technology allows golfers to compare equipment and receive professional club-fitting advice before making a purchase.
