Weirdough Bakery has opened a new MINI kiosk at Somerset Mall, bringing its Argentine-inspired pastries and artisan coffee to shoppers in Somerset West.
Weirdough Bakery has expanded into Somerset Mall with the opening of a new MINI kiosk, bringing its popular Argentine-inspired pastries and artisan coffee to one of Somerset West’s busiest shopping destinations.
I actually stumbled across it by chance today.
Walking through Entrance 2, between Swarovski and Steve Madden and just opposite Woolworths, a bright, colourful kiosk immediately caught my eye. It turned out to be Weirdough MINI, the bakery’s latest addition to its growing local footprint.
The opening was actually announced on social media on 29 July 2026, with the team sharing that they were “officially open” and looking forward to welcoming both loyal customers and newcomers.
A Smaller Space, Same Weirdough
If the concept feels familiar, that’s because it is.
Earlier this year, the business introduced its first Weirdough MINI kiosk at Waterstone Village, offering a smaller-format version of the bakery designed for shoppers looking to grab a pastry and coffee on the go. The Somerset Mall kiosk follows the same concept, making the bakery’s signature treats even more accessible.
While chatting to the team today, I also learned that the Somerset Mall kiosk is intended to remain as a permanent fixture in the centre.
Bringing a Taste of Lion’s Square to Somerset Mall
Weirdough Bakery & Deli first established itself at Lion’s Square Shopping Centre, where it has become known for its Argentine-style medialunas, buttery pastries similar to croissants, served alongside artisan coffee.
The menu includes both sweet and savoury varieties, from traditional dulce de leche, custard and dark chocolate fillings to options topped with mozzarella, pastrami, serrano ham and mature cheese. Coffee is just as much a part of the experience, with the bakery describing the combination of espresso and pastry as “more than a pairing, they are a ritual.”
For anyone who hasn’t yet made it to the Lion’s Square bakery, the new Somerset Mall kiosk offers an easy introduction while you’re already out shopping.
It wasn’t something I had planned to find today, but it’s always nice discovering a new addition while simply going about your day. If you’re heading into Somerset Mall through Entrance 2, it’s worth keeping an eye out. You’ll probably spot the bright Weirdough MINI kiosk before you even reach Woolworths.
