From Somerset Mall to De Helderbosch KwikSPAR, today’s cloud-filled skies were another reminder that Somerset West offers beautiful views every day.
One of the things that continues to amaze me about living in Somerset West is how quickly the scenery changes.
We headed out today to pick up a few household essentials, and as we pulled into the parking area at Entrance 2 of Somerset Mall, we found ourselves stopping to admire the sky. Layer upon layer of clouds stretched across the horizon, creating a kaleidoscope of shapes, textures and colours that seemed to shift every few minutes.
Maybe it’s just me, but it feels as though the sky, ocean and mountains around Somerset West reinvent themselves every single day. No two views ever seem quite the same.
Beauty in every kind of weather
People often say the Helderberg experiences all four seasons in a single day, and after living here for a while, I can certainly believe it. Even when the weather turns grey, there is something undeniably beautiful about it. The clouds add depth and drama to the landscape, transforming an ordinary shopping trip into another excuse to stop, look up and reach for the camera.
From Somerset Mall to De Helderbosch
A few hours later, we stopped at KwikSPAR De Helderbosch (Cylnor Centre) to pick up a batch of their fresh sesame seed buns, another small family favourite.
Although the two sets of photos were taken in different parts of Somerset West on the same day, they shared something in common. Whether you’re at Somerset Mall, driving through the neighbourhoods or simply running everyday errands, the town always seems to offer a different backdrop.
It’s one of the reasons we never mind keeping the camera close by. In Somerset West, even the most ordinary day can end with an extraordinary view.
