A Christmas morning walk in Monte Sereno revealed beautiful views over Somerset West, False Bay and Helderberg mountains, reminding us how fortunate we are to call this home.
Christmas morning means something different to everyone. Some families head to church. Others make their way to the beach or pack a picnic for one of the local wine estates. We decided to celebrate a little differently by going for a peaceful walk through our neighbourhood.
As we reached Cylnor Street in Monte Sereno, we paused to take in one of those views that never seems to lose its magic.
A view worth stopping for
Stretching out before us was a magnificent panorama of Somerset West, with False Bay shimmering in the distance and the Helderberg mountains standing proudly beyond the town.
The photograph captures just a small glimpse of the view enjoyed every day by residents of La Vista, Willow Glen, Monte Sereno Heights, and the other homes along Cylnor Street. It is one of those viewpoints that reminds you just how beautiful this corner of the Helderberg really is.
The lush greenery, open spaces and ever-changing skies somehow looked even more special on Christmas morning, as if nature had dressed up for the occasion.
Feeling grateful this Christmas
Standing there, it was impossible not to feel grateful. Many people dream of living somewhere with views like these, whether they’re renting or lucky enough to own a home. Every time we stop here, I’m reminded how privileged we are to experience this scenery as part of everyday life.
Christmas is often about slowing down and appreciating what we have. For us, this quiet morning walk through Monte Sereno became the perfect reminder that some of life’s greatest gifts aren’t found under the Christmas tree, but in the beautiful places we’re fortunate enough to call home.
