Best of Asia has opened at Somerset Mall, adding its Asian food offering to the new food court and entertainment wing as the development moves closer to completion.
Best of Asia opened this week at Somerset Mall, becoming the latest addition to the new food court and entertainment wing. The restaurant brings a takeaway-focused Asian food offering to the centre, including sushi, noodles, buns and other Asian favourites.
The arrival was also formally marked online, with Best of Asia Somerset Mall creating its Facebook page on Monday, 14 September 2026, ahead of the opening.
The Somerset Mall branch is the latest Best of Asia location in Somerset West, with existing branches at Paardevlei Sentrum and Vergelegen Plein Shopping Centre.
Its opening follows a series of arrivals at the new wing over the past few weeks. Smasht. opened on Tuesday, 1 September, followed by Kokiyo on Tuesday, 8 September, while Souk Pop-Up and Woolworths NOW NOW both opened on Thursday, 10 September.
Best of Asia now joins those businesses, along with the restaurants that opened when the new food court launched at the end of August.
Joining the new food court
Best of Asia is particularly known for its fresh sushi specials. The menu also includes noodles, buns and other Asian dishes. Customers can order online for collection or delivery through platforms including Mr D and Uber Eats.
The restaurant also adds another Asian option to the food court, alongside Bunka Ramen and Kokiyo, while the wider line-up includes the relocated Steers, Fishaways and Debonairs Pizza, Rib Republic and Smasht.
The new food court has continued to fill out considerably since the first businesses opened, with Best of Asia now taking its place among the latest arrivals.
KFC is now the last restaurant still to come
With Best of Asia open, the restaurant line-up at the new food court is almost complete.
KFC is now the last major restaurant still to open, with its opening currently scheduled for the end of October 2026.
The timing means there will be another wait before the food offering is fully in place, but the sequence of openings has changed the new wing considerably since it first opened at the end of August.
Freedom Adventure Park is still waiting
The food court is, however, further along than the entertainment side of the development.
Freedom Adventure Park remains the major outstanding attraction, but its opening has been delayed by customs issues affecting the arrival of equipment.
A new opening date has not yet been announced.
The attraction is still taking shape inside the new wing, but for now its launch remains TBA.
With Best of Asia now open, the next significant change to the wing truly pivots to the remaining restaurant and the entertainment offering, with all eyes now squarely on Freedom Adventure Park.
