A visit to Die Wingerd Park in Somerset West rewarded us with beautiful Helderberg mountain views, blue skies and sweeping views across False Bay.
Sometimes the best views appear while you’re simply watching your child play. Today we stopped at Die Wingerd Park, on the corner of Helderberg College Road and Main Road in Somerset West.
It’s not somewhere we visit very often. The playground feels quite open and, more often than not, it’s surprisingly quiet. Every now and then we see people walking or playing with their dogs, but it’s rare to find many children there.
That didn’t stop our son from making the most of the jungle gym.
While he happily climbed, explored and played, I found myself drawn to the view beyond the playground. Looking out across False Bay towards the Helderberg mountains, the sky was a brilliant shade of blue, almost blending seamlessly into the ocean on the horizon.
Since moving to Somerset West, I’ve often joked that blue has become my favourite colour. Days like this are probably the reason why.
The photos capture that endless blue canvas stretching from the mountains to the sea, a reminder that even an ordinary afternoon at a neighbourhood park can come with some of the best views in Somerset West.
