Intercare Waterstone Medical and Dental Centre has opened at Waterstone Village in Somerset West, bringing medical, dental and preventative healthcare services together under one roof.
Waterstone Village has become one of those places where many of us already find ourselves stopping every week, whether it’s for groceries, coffee, the gym or a few errands. Now there’s another reason to visit, with Intercare Waterstone Medical and Dental Centre officially opening its doors on 6 March 2023.
Located on the first floor of Waterstone Village Office Park, above Virgin Active at the corner of the R44 and Main Road, the multidisciplinary facility makes it easier for residents across Somerset West, Strand, Gordon’s Bay and the wider Helderberg to access a broad range of healthcare services in one place.
Bringing Multiple Healthcare Services Together
One of the centre’s biggest advantages is that patients can access a broad range of healthcare services in a single facility, whether they’re visiting for a routine check-up, dental appointment or more specialised care.
The medical practice is headed by Dr Hein Herbst, while Dr Johannes Lourens leads the dental practice. Leandré van der Merwe serves as the Practice Manager.
Medical services include general consultations, acute and chronic disease management, preventative care, wellness screenings, vaccinations, travel medicine, ECGs, minor surgical procedures, pathology, radiology and managed healthcare plans.
The dental practice offers general dentistry alongside bridges, crowns, cosmetic dentistry, implants, dentures, veneers, root canal therapy, paediatric dentistry, periodontal treatment, conscious sedation and oral hygiene services.
The facility also embraces Intercare’s hybrid approach to healthcare, allowing patients to combine in-person appointments with digital healthcare services where appropriate.
Convenient Access for Helderberg Residents
One of the things I like about Waterstone Village is how easy it is to tick several errands off the list in a single visit. We usually do our weekly grocery shop at Woolworths, sometimes stop for breakfast or lunch at W Café, and our car almost always ends up at the basement-level car wash while we’re there. Having a medical and dental centre in the same precinct means there’s one more thing you can get done without making another trip across town. Whether it’s squeezing in a dentist’s appointment, seeing a GP, or collecting medication afterwards, it all fits naturally into an ordinary day.
That convenience extends to the way the practice operates, too. The centre operates seven days a week, including public holidays, with online booking available for both medical and dental appointments. Most major medical schemes are accepted, while the practice operates as a cashless facility, accepting card payments only.
Its location within Waterstone Village Office Park also places it within easy walking distance of nearby pharmacies, making it convenient for patients who need to collect prescriptions or visit multiple healthcare providers during the same trip.
As Somerset West continues to grow, so too does the demand for accessible healthcare close to home. The opening of Intercare Waterstone is another example of the steady expansion of medical services across the Helderberg, giving residents more choice without having to travel outside the area for everyday healthcare.
