NuHuman Brings Its Transformation Gym Concept to Somerset West

NuHuman has officially opened its Somerset West gym, bringing its coaching-based fitness model and integrated wellness approach to the Helderberg.

The new facility, located at Farm 681 in Croydon, welcomed its first members on 1 December 2025, following several months of preparation that included recruiting trainers and confirming the Somerset West branch earlier in the year.

According to the NuHuman website, the Somerset West gym marks the company’s third location in South Africa, alongside its existing branches in Silver Lakes and Irene in Gauteng.

A Different Approach to Fitness

NuHuman does not position itself as a conventional gym. Instead, the company describes its concept as a “transformation gym”, saying its focus extends beyond exercise to include coaching, accountability and long-term lifestyle change.

In the lead-up to the Somerset West opening, NuHuman also described its approach as “nothing like a regular gym” and a “friendly, judgment-free gym”, with programmes designed to support people at different stages of their fitness journey.

According to the company, its model combines structured group training with personalised coaching, nutrition guidance and regular progress monitoring. Members train in coach-led group sessions, with workouts adapted to individual fitness levels and goals rather than following a standard programme for everyone.

NuHuman says accountability is a key part of its philosophy, with trainers working alongside members to monitor progress, refine goals and encourage consistent, sustainable habits over time.

Training, Recovery and Health Under One Roof

Alongside its coaching model, the Somerset West gym incorporates recovery technologies as part of its overall programme.

The company says every training session includes Low-Level Red and Infrared Laser Light Therapy (LLLT), which it claims may help improve circulation, support cellular energy production, reduce inflammation and aid recovery after exercise. Earlier announcements about the Somerset West branch also referenced infrared and ozone technologies as part of the facility’s wellness offering.

Beyond exercise, NuHuman says its nutrition programmes focus on education rather than restrictive dieting, with the aim of helping members build sustainable eating habits while supporting metabolic health and energy levels.

The company also uses Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) as part of its health assessments. According to NuHuman, the analysis helps identify mineral imbalances, stress-related patterns and other indicators that can be used to develop personalised nutrition, supplementation and lifestyle plans.

In addition, NuHuman offers a range of nutraceutical supplements, which it says are formulated with science-backed ingredients to support areas including stress, digestive health, sleep, immunity and energy. The company states that the products are manufactured in a SAHPRA-approved laboratory and are HPA-approved.

Another Fitness Option for the Helderberg

With its Somerset West opening, NuHuman adds another specialised fitness option to the Helderberg’s growing health and wellness sector.

While many gyms focus primarily on exercise, NuHuman says its model takes a broader approach by combining training with nutrition, recovery, coaching and lifestyle support. Whether that integrated model resonates with local residents is something they will decide for themselves, but the opening adds another dimension to the range of health and wellness services now available in Somerset West.
