Xpresso Café has opened at Somerset Mall in Somerset West, bringing its popular one-price menu of coffee, pastries, sandwiches and sweet treats to the Helderberg.
Shoppers looking for an affordable coffee break now have another option at Somerset Mall. Xpresso Café has opened its doors at Shop 68 on the Ground Floor, near Entrance 2, bringing the Cape Town-born coffee brand to the Helderberg.
The Somerset West branch is the only Xpresso Café in the Helderberg, joining a growing network of stores across the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
A Simple Idea That Has Built a Following
Xpresso Café has become well known for doing something a little different. Built around a budget-friendly take-away coffee shop concept where every menu item is priced the same, the brand first made a name for itself with everything costing R10.
Today, that simple idea lives on, with every item on the menu priced at R14. Rather than pricing each item individually, customers know exactly what they’ll pay, whether they’re ordering a cappuccino, a sandwich or a sweet treat.
That includes a wide selection of coffees such as cappuccinos, lattes, americanos and mochas, along with teas, hot chocolates, iced coffees and refreshing cold drinks. The menu also extends to sandwiches, croissants, pies, pastries, doughnuts, muffins, brownies and other grab-and-go favourites, making it just as suitable for a quick breakfast as it is for an afternoon coffee stop.
The café also offers surprise vouchers, allowing customers to buy a coffee or meal for a family member, friend, colleague or even a stranger—a small gesture that has become part of the brand’s community-focused approach.
From Cape Town to the Helderberg
As the brand has grown, Xpresso Café has steadily expanded beyond its original Cape Town footprint through company-owned stores and franchise partnerships. Today, it operates in shopping centres and business districts across the Western Cape, with additional locations in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
The Somerset Mall branch marks the brand’s first and currently only location in the Helderberg, giving local shoppers access to the concept without travelling further afield.
Whether you’re popping in before work, taking a break between shopping, or looking for a quick bite without stretching the budget, the café offers a straightforward menu that has helped build a loyal following across South Africa.
A Formula That Continues to Grow
Not many café concepts can say they’ve built an entire brand around a single price point. Yet that straightforward idea has helped Xpresso Café expand from its Cape Town roots into multiple provinces. The opening at Somerset Mall reflects how the Helderberg has become part of that growth story, with Somerset West now joining the brand’s expanding network of locations.
