Fletchers Burgers has opened at Fountain Square in Somerset West, serving fresh, char-grilled burgers inspired by flavours and cultures from around the world.
Burger lovers in Somerset West have a new local spot to try, with Fletchers Burgers now open at Fountain Square on Caledon Street.
I have to admit, this is one opening that is likely to get more excitement from my husband than from me. He loves a good burger, while I tend to gravitate towards something a little less messy. Still, the idea of burgers inspired by flavours and cultures from around the world caught my attention, so I had to take a closer look.
Burgers Inspired by Flavours Around the World
Fletchers’ menu takes inspiration from different places and flavours, with burgers such as Mzanzi’s Pride and Marley’s Jamrock among its offerings.
The restaurant says its beef burgers are made with 100% grass-fed beef, with nothing added but its passion, while its lamb burgers use certified free-range organic lamb.
Unless otherwise stated, the burgers weigh 150 grams, are made fresh and char-grilled, and are served with homemade crispy chips. Fletchers also makes its own sauces using fresh ingredients, with no additives added.
For anyone who likes their burger on the more indulgent side, the Deluxe Burger comes with a 200-gram beef patty, signature sauce, crispy bacon, smoked Cheddar cheese, homemade pickled onions, lettuce, rocket and tomato, all served in a brioche bun.
A New Take on the Burger in Somerset West
There is something nice about seeing a new independent food business bring its own personality to a familiar favourite. Fletchers has kept burgers at the centre of what it does, but the different flavour inspirations give the menu a little more to explore than the usual burger-and-chips offering.
My husband, unsurprisingly, already sounds ready to work his way through the menu. I may need a little more convincing, but I am curious to see whether there is a burger that can win over someone who generally prefers her food a little less messy.
For now, Fletchers Burgers is open Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 20:00 at Fountain Square on Caledon Street, giving Somerset West another place to put on the list when a burger craving hits.
