Mozambik Somerset West has officially closed its doors at The Sanctuary Shopping Centre and is preparing to welcome customers to a brand-new home at Somerset Mall.
I spotted the prominent “Our New Additions” billboard at Somerset Mall today, confirming that the popular restaurant will soon open in one of the Helderberg’s busiest shopping destinations. While the Sanctuary location has now closed, the wait for the new spot shouldn’t be too long.
Recent Social Media Teasers Built Excitement
On 15 July 2026, the restaurant announced it is currently closed at its existing location. They followed up quickly with an encouraging message that something exciting is in the works and the next chapter will be worth the wait.
A few days later they ran a fun competition, asking followers to guess the new location with a meal voucher up for grabs. The post generated plenty of positive engagement and speculation across the local community.
New Location Confirmed at Somerset Mall
Mozambik will open at Shop F10-F11 on the Ground Floor of Somerset Mall, at the new food court ( which they call SM Food Market). The eye-catching billboard already lists Mozambik among exciting new additions alongside Now Now by Woolworths, Uniq by Checkers, and Freedom Adventure Park.
Moving to Somerset Mall places the restaurant in a high-traffic, central Helderberg location with convenient parking, easy access, and significantly more passing foot traffic – a smart upgrade for both the business and loyal local customers.
I’ll share the official opening date and any further details as soon as they’re released. It’s always great news when a well-loved local favourite stays in the area and secures an even more convenient spot for Helderberg residents.

Mozambik Somerset West is now officially open at its new home in the Somerset Mall Food Market, opposite Truworths.
Interestingly, the opening came as a bit of a surprise. The restaurant first announced on 15 July that it had closed at The Sanctuary Shopping Centre, hinting that “something exciting” was on the way. Two days later, followers were invited to guess the new location, and on 21 July the team shared a behind-the-scenes construction update. Then, on 23 July, the restaurant quietly announced that it was already open.
In fact, when I stopped by Somerset Mall earlier that morning, the restaurant was already open, but there were no customers seated yet, while the official Facebook announcement only appeared later that afternoon.
Personally, I expected a little more build-up around the opening. Relocating a restaurant to one of the Helderberg’s busiest shopping centres is a significant milestone, and it felt like there was an opportunity to generate even more excitement before opening day.
That said, the good news is that Mozambik has officially opened its doors at Somerset Mall and is ready to welcome diners to its new home.
