Somerset Mall’s New Food and Entertainment Court Is Now Open

Somerset Mall’s new food and entertainment court is now open, with Steers, Fishaways, Debonairs Pizza, Rib Republic and Bunka Ramen welcoming customers.

After yesterday’s unexpected one-day delay, Somerset Mall’s new food and entertainment wing is now open.

I visited the mall again this morning, Friday, 28 August 2026, to see what had changed since yesterday, when several of the new restaurants were still waiting to open. This time, the new SM Food Market was open and the various tenants were busy getting ready for the day ahead, with a number of the restaurants now ready to welcome their first customers.

Steers, Fishaways and Debonairs Pizza have all successfully moved into their new premises, while Bunka Ramen is also now open, adding a new dining option to the precinct. Rib Republic is open as well, meaning several of the restaurants that were delayed yesterday are now operating.

The New Food Court Is Finally Taking Shape

Walking into the new section today, it was immediately easier to get a sense of what Somerset Mall has been working towards.

The food court is surprisingly spacious, with plenty of seating and a generous amount of leafy greenery throughout the area. The planting softens the space and gives it a more relaxed, comfortable feel, which is especially noticeable compared with the construction zone that has been taking shape here over the past few months.

Of course, the area is still brand new, and you can see that some of the businesses are settling in. Staff were busy wiping down counters, preparing their spaces and getting ready for customers as the first day got underway.

It gave the whole place that slightly unusual feeling of being both finished and still in the process of becoming itself.

Not Everything Is Open Yet

There are still a few gaps in the new food offering.

Smasht., the popular takeaway-based Halaal burger restaurant, is still under wraps and has not opened yet.

Further along the precinct, some of the other businesses remain works in progress, so the full food offering is still to come.

Woolworths NOW NOW, for example, has already confirmed that its Somerset Mall outlet is scheduled to open on 10 September 2026, while Best of Asia remains listed as coming soon.

Freedom Adventure Park Is Coming Together

And then there is the other major part of this new precinct.

At the entrance, just across from the newly opened Mozambik Somerset West, Freedom Adventure Park is also looking considerably further along than it did yesterday.

The space is now visibly coming together, with the team busy working on the finishing details and putting up the park’s signage. There is still no confirmed opening date, but it is much easier to imagine what the finished attraction will look like now that the branding is going up and the space is taking shape.

The Wing Is Open, But Still Evolving

So, one day later, the picture at Somerset Mall looks very different.

Yesterday, the new wing felt like it was still waiting for its moment. Today, the doors are open, the restaurants are getting ready for the day and the new food court is finally functioning as intended.

It is also clear that this is only the beginning. Some businesses are open, others are still being fitted out, and Freedom Adventure Park has yet to announce when it will welcome its first visitors.

But after months of watching this part of Somerset Mall change piece by piece, today was the first time it really felt like the new food and entertainment wing had arrived.
